Our Chief Executive Officer oversees the implementation of the organisations strategic plan and manages the overall operations and resources of DV West.
Catherine Gander
Chief Executive Officer
Catherine has significant experience working in the domestic and family violence sector at a both a policy and practice level. She has worked in an advisory capacity to government and as an expert representative for the sector at both a state and national level.
She brings to DV West an extensive knowledge of the cross-sector integration of systems and services required to effectively respond to the safety needs of women and children in different circumstances and from diverse backgrounds.
Catherine recognises the gender-based nature of violence against women and the many forms it can take. She welcomes the increased community engagement and awareness of violence against women as an urgent gendered issue and the focus on its prevention. This awareness is evident in the increased number of women seeking help from DV West. Catherine would like to see services like DV West adequately resourced so that no woman or child seeking help is ever turned away.
She is proud to lead a team of such dedicated, compassionate and highly skilled staff and to see firsthand the difference they make to the lives of the women and children they journey beside.
