Wirrawee Gunya

Wirrawee Gunya provides crisis accommodation, transitional housing and outreach supports to Aboriginal women and children across Nepean, -Blue Mountains and Blacktown regions. The support provided is flexible and tailored, in collaboration with the family. Safety empowerment and healing is at the forefront of our services.

There is also an Aboriginal Children’s Specialist Worker on the team that provides multi-faceted and flexible supports to children to increase the protective factors in children lives and create experiences to build happy memories away from the violence. The creation of happy experiences is also designed to rebuild family relationships and connections, not only with the mother/carer and siblings but with extended family and the community.

Wirrawee Gunya staff are local Aboriginal women who have strong connections with the local Aboriginal community but and extensive experience in providing specialised domestic and family violence support that is culturally safe, responsive and sensitive to women and children’s needs.

The Wirrawee Gunya team is staffed by local Aboriginal women who provide case management support to Aboriginal women and children effected by Domestic and/or Family Violence
